tangerine

the world, whole and waiting.
a surface entered with a mere fingertip.
hunger and what follows it.
one piece, then another.

and yet, I keep trying to be
the rocket scientist, the chemist, the mathematician,
wanting to make better sense
of what is already so obvious:
circle. skin. orange. sweetness.

Sometimes, what matters
is to eat, and be fed.

I love how you can make something so simple, like a tangerine, so profound and beautiful!

Yes it is, Miss Maya, important to realize that what matters is to eat, and to be fed.
Know what my best friend always tells me when I'm sad? She says, "Don't forget to do the laundry."
Keep it simple. Deal with the first things first.

You describe the joy of food and the act of eating like no one else I know.

One of my many dreams is to eat with you someday. To be fed some of your amazing food. I will let you know ahead of time about the next time I will be in in SF. I look forward to your food.
